Connection behaviour

Understand reconnect, the kill switch, startup, and window closing.

NuggetVPN client documentation

Most connection controls are under Settings → Behaviour.

Reconnect automatically

Reconnect automatically brings the tunnel back if it stops without a deliberate disconnect. In automatic mode, the app can choose the best server that answers.

Use this alongside the server selection settings if you want failed connections to try other servers.

Kill switch

Kill switch blocks internet traffic when the tunnel goes down unexpectedly. Local network access remains available, and NuggetVPN itself can still reach servers and refresh subscriptions so it can reconnect. The app shows when the kill switch is holding traffic.

Press Disconnect to release the block intentionally. The kill switch should not be understood as a permanent firewall after you disconnect or quit the application.

If the app reports that the kill switch stopped, traffic is no longer being blocked. Reconnect or inspect logs to diagnose the failure.

Startup

On desktop, Launch at login starts NuggetVPN in the background when you sign in. Connect automatically connects to the last-used server when the app starts.

These are separate choices: launching the app does not imply connecting unless automatic connection is enabled.

Closing the window

Notifications

Enable notifications for a system message when a connection drops and comes back. The desktop global shortcut and Wi-Fi rules provide additional ways to control connections.
